Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care Therapist

Families First of Florida is seeking a therapist for our Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care Program.

This therapist must have the following credentials:

•Hold a master’s degree in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, rehabilitation, special education or human services. In addition, must have five (5) years of direct experience working with abused children and their families, and two (2) years experience working with foster parents.
or
•Licensed clinical therapist (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT) must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with abused children and their families and two (2) years experience working with foster parents.

To provide the following direct care services for STFC clients as mandated by AHCA in the Medicaid Handbook:
(1) To directly supervise and support the STFC foster parents.
(2) Evaluate and assess the clients who are receiving services.
(3) Contribute to and participate in the preparation of the treatment plan.
(4) Provide monthly in-service training (minimum 2 hours) to the STFC parent, assuring that the skills are learned that will be needed to provide whatever the treatment plan indicates is needed in the home environment.
(5) Work with the Department of Children & Families, district Family Safety program office or Juvenile Justice Counselor to coordinate other treatment initiatives, including school performance, permanency and reunification planning.
(6) Work with the client’s targeted case manager.
(7) Conduct regularly scheduled face-to-face meetings with the specialized therapeutic foster parents in order to monitor the child’s progress, and discuss treatment strategies and services.
(8) Supervise the performance of the STFC parents.
(9) To conduct home visits/counseling sessions as often as needed but no less than:
a. Level I – once per week
b. Level II – twice per week
(10) To conduct community visits at a minimum of once a month.
(11) To review the formal treatment plan in an effort to assess progress toward meeting treatment goals as needed, but at least:
a. Level I – at a minimum of every six months
b. Level II – on a quarterly basis
(12) Write weekly progress notes summarizing the child’s status, program participation, and psychosocial and behavioral skills development as they relate to the treatment plan goals and objectives. The STFC foster parent shall co-sign the progress note.

•Responsible for a caseload of up to eight (8) STFC clients.
•Develop and coordinate an individual discharge plan based on treatment and indicating all relevant aftercare needs and plans.
•Assure all client charts are current, legible, and there are adequate and up-to-date records/ documentation in the client’s chart.
•Attends regular staff meetings, clinical meetings, and one-on-one session with the Clinical Supervisor in order to process the current status of cases.
•Attend all court hearings.
•Timely reporting of all critical incidents to the Director of Licensed Care.
•Provide on-call service for caseload and participate in rotation for crisis on-call services for the agency.
•Transport children as needed. Maintain automobile liability bodily injury coverage of $100,000 / $300,000 per person / accident.
•Responsible for maintaining personal training requirements to meet contract compliance requirements.
•Maintain a professional appearance and protocol when representing Families First of Florida.
