Records Retention Specialist - Tampa

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the record reconciliation process by ensuring the receipt, retrieval and routing of all medical records appropriately, timely and efficiently for departmental workflow and audits.
  • Accurately & efficiently processes medical records according to established guidelines for prepping, scanning, and indexing.
  • Creates, reviews, and maintains charts as required for new, active, and discharged clients.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality requirements for all elements of HIPAA and release of protected health information.
  • Responds to phone, email, and fax requests in a professional, efficient, and timely manner. Demonstrates an understanding of the usage and maintenance of department computer systems and equipment.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions outlined above.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and other applicable compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in computer based programs and desktop applications.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated human relations and communications skills, and ability to work in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years working with medical records, with at least one year of electronic health records preferred.
  • Experience with Medical Records release of information preferred.
